The Governors at Ricards Lodge High School have 3 core functions:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  2. Holding the school to account for the educational performance of the school and its students, and the performance management of staff
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

We are fortunate to have a thriving Governing Body who take an active role in the life of the school. The Governing Body meet termly and visits to the school take place throughout the year.

A message from the chair of governors:

“I was delighted to have been elected as Chair of Governors in October 2013, having been a parent governor since December 2010. The school continues to improve under the strong leadership of the Headteacher and her team.  We are working hard together to ensure that all our students reach their full potential, whatever their strengths, so that we can say with confidence that we are educating successful women of the future."

I have attended numerous school events, productions and exhibitions and observed many many lessons and am hugely impressed by the talent, attitude and behaviour of the girls and their positive relationships with each other and the staff. As well as emphasising academic achievement, the school promotes the need to show respect, tolerance and support for each other and this is evident in all aspects of school life. It was no surprise, therefore, when Ofsted concluded that we were outstanding in the area of spiritualmoral, social and cultural development at its 2013 inspection.

Having closely watched the development of RR6, our sixth form, I am immensely proud of what has been achieved to date and are confident that it will go from strength to strength as it becomes firmly established as a credible sixth form offer for young people in south west London.

Being a governor of this school has been an immensely rewarding experience and I would urge parents who are interested in contributing to the strategic direction of the school to put themselves forward for consideration when new parent governor opportunities open up next term.”

Best wishes
