KS4 CORE PE

There is a statutory requirement for all students to take part in PE during year 10 and 11. All students are required to participate in one hour of physical education per week. PE contributes to the development of students making healthy lifestyle choices for their future. The department also focuses on   increasing exercise levels to support the national requirements of two and a half hours of exercise per week. The ethos of the department is to encourage students to find a sport or activity they are passionate about and they have lifelong participation in physical activity.

Students in KS4 will be taught a range of activities including:

Team Games

Volleyball

Trampolining

Softball

The PE department are closely linked with the Merton Schools Sports Partnership. The partnership offers leadership programmes at KS4 and are run through the website www.mertonssp.org.uk.

Students are encouraged to participate in school clubs at lunchtime or after school. These include Badminton, Football, Netball, Athletics, Hockey, Gymnastics, Basketball, Rounders, Tennis, Trampolining, Rowing, Cricket and Fitness.

Talented students in lessons are invited to represent the school at the Merton Borough events throughout the year. Students can also trial for Wimbledon Ball Girls in Year 10 for representation at the All England Tennis Championships.
