King's College Partnership at The Globe

On Friday 10th March ten Year 9 students went to the Globe Theatre in London as part of the King's College Partnership.

We set off on a very cold and windy day from Wimbledon park and took the tube to Blackfriars with a short walk over Blackfriars bridge and along the riverside past the Tate Modern to the Globe Theatre which is situated in the London Borough of Southwark.

There were groups of students from all the local schools that are part of the partnership, and our students were greeted by an actor and given a tour of the theatre, the history behind it and how it was rebuilt to replicate the original from back in the 1600’s.

Shortly after this, the students took part in a workshop reading lines from Shakespeare’s 'The Tempest' along with some fun exercises.

After lunch, we were welcomed back into the main area and watched the actors perform 'The Tempest'.

Fun was had by all before making our way back through the wind and rain to Wimbledon.
