What Our Girls Say

Millie

Year 11, Co-Head Girl

I am proud to be a Ricards student and now one of the school’s Co-Head Girls. I am really looking forward to working alongside the rest of the Junior Leadership Team, staff and students here at Ricards Lodge in maintaining and improving our already outstanding school.

Being a part of the JLT is something that I have always aspired to but, truthfully, something I never thought was achievable. When I first joined Ricards I was one of the quieter students and lacked confidence in myself. However, through the support from my friends, my amazing family and the staff here at Ricards Lodge, I have been able to step outside my comfort zone and have taken advantage of the many opportunities available at this wonderful school.

Up to this point, I have been in involved in many enrichment activities. I attended the school’s dance and netball clubs and also completed a mock university course with the Brilliant Club.  In Year 9 I performed the role of Belle in our school musical of Beauty and the Beast, and in Year 10 I joined the School Council and our Pupil Outreach Programme, supporting the younger students. I am currently working on my Duke of Edinburgh Award, my HPQ project, and I'm now also raising money to take part in a charitable trip to Kenya with Camps International.

Joining in with all the fantastic extracurricular activities has been something I have loved about Ricards Lodge and is what I believe has ultimately led to my position as Head Girl. I am amazed at how far I have come since my first day in Year 7;  I hope to show other students that you don't need to be an extrovert to achieve your goals and that hard work and perhaps, most importantly, a little bit of belief in yourself, can be the keys to success.

As I am sure you all realise, we are living in confusing and difficult times and nobody really knows what the year ahead will bring, thus making things a bit more challenging. Along with the rest of the JLT, I will be working hard to ensure that all students can feel as comfortable and supported as possible.

Finally, as a school, Ricards' students are passionate and take pride in our four values; Trust, Equality, Resilience and Aspiration.  These create a positive environment for students who are encouraged throughout their school career to aim high and strive for excellence to become “successful women of the future”.
