What Our Girls Say

Zahra - Year 11, Junior Leadership Team

My name is Zahra, and I am proud to serve as Head Girl of Ricards Lodge High School. I joined the JLT because I wanted to represent our student body and ensure that every voice is heard.

Supporting others has always been important to me, and being part of the JLT has given me the platform to contribute to our school community in a meaningful way. Student leadership is really important because it gives us the chance to speak up, share ideas, and make a real difference to our school. I’m grateful to be part of a team that works together and genuinely cares about creating a positive environment for everyone. As Head Girl, I have the privilege of delivering speeches, chairing school council meetings, and contributing to projects that reflect the needs and ambitions of our students. It is an honour to support and represent our school community, and I’m proud that a long-held dream of becoming a leader has become a reality

Victoria - Year 11, Junior Leadership Team

I’m Victoria, an Assistant Head Girl. I wanted to be a part of the JLT in order to be a voice for the other students in our school.

I think Student Leadership is incredibly important as you need the opinions of everyone in the school community in order to make the changes we want to see. Student leadership is needed also to learn how to work in a team and foster a positive environment, whether that’s through the JLT or other leadership opportunities - it provides a valuable insight into what it’s like to be a part of something bigger. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity as I hope to be someone that younger students can easily come to and provide that inspiration that I had from past members of the junior leadership team.

Raqiba - Year 11, Junior Leadership Team

Hello, my name is Raqiba, and I am one of the assistant head girls. I am proud to be a member of JLT as it is a safe and comfortable environment to work with.

My inspiration for year 11 was that I wanted to be a leader and an example for the girls at our school, someone they could look up to and feel comfortable asking me for help. In order to achieve this, I had signed myself up for JLT as I knew I wanted to be the best example I could ever be for the school. I am very grateful for this role as I can listen to student voices and opinions. Overall, being in JLT has helped me develop as a person to grow and also improve in public speaking. It is an honour to work with the other members of JLT as we are such an amazing group. I feel like we all help each other as a group, which makes us a strong team.

Aphie - Year 11, Junior Leadership Team

Hi, my name is Aphie, and I’m an assistant head girl. I love being part of the JLT as I am able to make a positive impact on school life for the students at Ricards – making it a more enjoyable and a one-of-a-kind experience.

I think the JLT is great as it allows older students of the school - who have experienced what the younger years are going through - to share our ideas on how we can help others and be a shoulder to lean on for the younger years. Through the JLT, I have also been able to experience things I don't think I would have been able to otherwise, from going to a student leadership conference, where we learnt about how other schools implement their JLT into their daily school and talking to the previous head of the NHS, to being able to work so closely with my teachers is an opportunity that I’m very grateful to have. I work closely with Ms Bloom and the wellbeing department at Ricards as mental health is something I am very passionate about and learning about it is something I would really like to implement into school life, so I am so grateful that I am part of the JLT, so I am able to make this happen!

Amira - Year 11, Junior Leadership Team

Hello, my name is Amira, and I am one of the Deputy Head Girls here at Ricards Lodge. I applied to be a part of JLT as I have always looked up to them, and aspired to be in their position one day.

I am now able to live that dream, and get a real insight into how hard my role models have worked to make my school a better place. Throughout my time as a Deputy Head Girl and part of JLT, I have been able to work closely with our Deputy Head Teacher, Ms Taylor, in planning, initiating and managing the Big Sister Program, which I am extremely proud of. We have planned school council meetings, volunteered at important evenings and worked towards making every voice heard, which is imperative to ensure that the students enjoy their time here at Ricards. I am grateful for this opportunity as it means I can contribute to a bigger cause, to improving the school journey of those after me, and ensuring that they are truly able to grow into successful women of the future.
