Creative Careers Conference

Our Year 10 GCSE Design & Technology, Product Design and Textiles students recently attended a careers conference at South Thames College, organised through the college’s outreach programme.
The event introduced students to careers in design, marketing, branding and sustainability.
Guest designers and brand influencers shared their personal career journeys, discussed the importance of intellectual property, and explained how designers help build and protect global brands. Students also explored the wide range of disciplines within product design, including fashion, textiles, packaging, cosmetics, toys and food products.
There was valuable discussion around current industry challenges, including the impact of AI on design, and how companies are cautiously exploring its use while protecting creative workforces.
The day concluded with collaborative activities that gave students a broader understanding of the creative industries and the many pathways available to them.
