Teaching at Ricards
Ricards Lodge High School is an SSAT Leading Edge School which has been recognised for its transforming practice in; Principled Curriculum, Climate for Learning and Moral Leadership. Ricards Lodge is an Embedding Formative Assessment Ambassador School (EFA) and EFA strategies form an integral part of our practice.
The greatest impact on learning is the daily lived experiences of students in classrooms, and that is determined much more by how teachers teach than by what they teach.
― Dylan Wiliam, Embedded Formative Assessment
Ricards Lodge High School strives to achieve its goal of Educating Successful Women of the Future and, along with our RR6 partner Rutlish School, we are United in Excellence. Learning is central for all members of our community. Our Teaching and Learning Policy aims to provide teachers and teaching assistants with a framework to use when planning and delivering learning opportunities for all of our students.
We are a Google Classroom school and all students at KS3 and KS4 have their own device. Staff use the online classrooms effectively to communicate with students, share resources, monitor homework and use a range of Google Classroom tools to support teaching, learning and marking.
Assessment is led by the department lead, so it is appropriate for the subject area. In this current academic year, we are moving to use Pupil Progress across all key stages and all subjects. This will help us to report to parents/carers live information and inform teaching staff with detailed attainment and progress analysis.
