GCSE Physical Education
The Edexcel GCSE Physical Education course is taught over two years enabling students to develop their knowledge and understanding of physical education and physical activity, in relation to a balanced healthy lifestyle.
Students must participate competently compete in at least one team sport regularly and one individual sport regularly as an extracurricular activity. A sound working knowledge of the rules and regulations in their chosen sports is expected. Having good knowledge and keen interest in biology; specifically the skeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems is essential.
This is an excellent course for students who are interested in sport as a professional or working within the sports industry in professions such as sport science (drugs testing, medical research), physiotherapy, sports psychologists, strength and development coaches, sports research and development including engineering of sporting equipment, teaching and coaching.
Students must complete four core units that are presented below;
PROGRESSION AT POST-16
Students can progress to A level PE or BTEC National Level 3 in Sport.
