Independent Learning Information

At Ricards Lodge we aim to foster a love of learning. To complement the learning students do within their classrooms, we have provided access to two additional online learning platforms: Seneca (all key stages) and Massolit (KS4/5).

These platforms can be accessed by all students using their school Google account log in.

Please find an overview of what each one can be used for and how to access:

Seneca Learning:

How to log in: To log in, click the Google sign in button and use your school Google details.

What it is:

  • Seneca uses cognitive science to help students learn and retain information more effectively. It covers a wide range of subjects, exam boards and content for specific year groups.

  • It works by presenting information in diverse formats, including interactive questions, videos, and summaries. The platform adapts to each student's learning pace, focusing on areas where they need extra help.

  • Seneca is great for revision, homework, and general knowledge consolidation.

  • It also has parent accounts available, so you can track your child's progress if you wish.

  • Staff can also set specific assignments within Seneca and monitor progress students make.

  • Students can access Seneca via the main website as well as the app

  • There is a paid option within this site, but we only recommend using the free version.

Massolit:

How to log in: To log in, use the ‘Log in using single sign on’ option, then search and select Ricards Lodge. On the next page, select your school Google account.

What it is:

  • Massolit specialises in providing high-quality video lectures for a broad range of subjects and has over 10,200 bite-size video lectures.

  • These lectures are delivered by university academics or specialists in their field, providing in-depth analysis and insights.

  • It's an excellent resource for students who want to delve deeper into their subjects and gain a more comprehensive understanding of complex topics.

  • Students can use the notebook feature to record all notes they make within the platform, which will be saved in their notebook folder within the platform and can be accessed whenever needed for revision.

  • Staff can also assign students playlists and lectures to watch/ complete notes and quizzes on.

  • Massolit lectures can be referenced in EPQ projects and student coursework.

  • Students can access the website as well as use the app.

Logging in with Google Accounts:

  • To streamline access, we encourage students to log in to both platforms using their school-provided Google accounts. Reminder, both sites have a Google login button that can be clicked instead of entering the details manually.

  • This simplifies the login process and ensures that students can easily access their accounts from any device.

  • Using the school account will ensure any work completed independently and any work set by teachers will all be included in the progress summary when logging in.

  • If any student has trouble logging in, please let your Tutor know.
